October 2013 : Wholesale Distribution Three New Features Version 2013 Release 2 for Wholesalers & Distributors 1. Improved Landed Cost Tracking at the Line Item Level With NetSuite Version 2013 Release 2, it’s much easier to track landed costs because cost accountants now have the ability to allocate and track landed cost values at a line item level. Prior to this release, landed cost allocations were available only at an order level. This enhanced method of allocating landed cost values per line item will be available in addition to the allocation options per order already available that are based on quantity, value, and weight. For every item received, a new landed cost subrecord will be available for you to store custom values, which will then automatically be reflected in Inventory Valuation reports. With this new feature, cost accountants will have the flexibility to account for landed costs in a more specific, customized manner so that inventory valuations will reflect the true economics of all the costs included in the item. In some instances, landed cost can comprise more than half of the total product cost per item. This feature can be especially helpful for companies that partner with suppliers and vendors globally and want better insight and tighter tracking into the location-specific costs of their purchases. 2. Improved Intelligent Order Allocation: Allocation Based on Order Priority With NetSuite Version 2013 Release 2, it’s much easier to maintain good customer relationships with your VIP customers to ensure their timely order fulfillment. Items can now be shipped based on commitment priority designated by you. In addition to being able to fulfill orders based on a transaction date or expected ship date sequence (options available prior to this release), customer service and sales representatives can use this new option to shuffle the ordering of quantities through order priority. This new option will enable you to assign priority numbers per customer, and then the system will calculate expected ship dates based on inventory item availability and priority standing. With this new feature, customer service and sales representatives can meet order fulfillment expectations with their most important customers and simultaneously bolster their company’s service level reputation. 3. New Grid Order Entry: B2B Sales Order for Similar Items This feature can be especially helpful when creating sales orders for items that are very popular due to high demand or seasonality. Item information such as Item Name, Location, Quantity Available, and Price are also displayed so that you can manage your customer relationships with the proper course of action.
